In 2015 Lotte van derPol obtained her PhD at Leiden University with her thesis: Focus on Feelings, parental emotion socialization in early childhood. She continued her research at the Centre for
Child and family Studies, Leiden University, as a postdoctoral fellow and later as an assistant professor. She currently supervises a PhD project on the link between religion and gender
socializationin ethnically Dutch families as well as families with an immigrant background in the Netherlands. Lotte is also involved in a study on sibling interactions between toddlers and
preschoolers. Her teaching focuses on everyday familyfunctioning, including the observation and coding of parent-child interactions in various contexts.
